Portugal Opens Euro 2008 Campaign with a 2-0 Victory over Turkey
Portugal began their Euro 2008 campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over Turkey in Geneva on June 7. The match, which was played at the Stade de Genève, saw Portugal dominate possession and create several scoring opportunities.
Portugal took the lead in the 27th minute when Ricardo Quaresma scored a stunning goal from outside the area. The second goal came in the 33rd minute, when Raul Meireles headed home a cross from Nani.
Turkey had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to convert their opportunities.
The victory gives Portugal a strong start to their Euro 2008 campaign. They will face Switzerland in their next match on June 11.
