IDC Predicts Asia Pacific Data Center Power Capacity to Reach 944 Gigawatts

SINGAPORE, August 5, 2024 - According to a recent IDC report, Asia Pacific's (excluding Japan) installed data center IT power capacity is forecasted to grow at a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.2%, reaching 944 gigawatts (GW) by 2028.

The report, titled "Asia Pacific Data Centre Investment Strategies in the Age of Digitalization," found that the region's data center market is driven by the increasing adoption of digital technologies and cloud services. The growth is also attributed to the rise of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

"The Asia Pacific data center market is experiencing significant growth, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming years," said Daniel Choo, Research Director, IDC Asia Pacific. "The region's growing population, coupled with the increasing demand for digital services, is fueling the need for more data center capacity."
